What was initially intended with Mojo#threadSafe ?

Tibor Digana
What was initially intended with Mojo#threadSafe ?
Was it the use case mvn -T 2C ...?
Or it was parallel processes execution from the project root?
For instance report-plugin which generates HTML files is threadsafe?

Cheers
