Maven Build Error with GWT

My maven build, which I'm running without tests, fails with an "OutOfMemory" error.

[INFO]       [ERROR]  Internal compiler error
[INFO] java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
[INFO] at java.util.Arrays.copyOfRange(Arrays.java:2694)
[INFO] at java.lang.String.<init>(String.java:203)
[INFO] at java.lang.String.substring(String.java:1877)
...
[INFO] [ERROR] Unexpected
[INFO] java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
[INFO] at java.util.Arrays.copyOfRange(Arrays.java:2694)
[INFO] at java.lang.String.<init>(String.java:203)
[INFO] at java.lang.String.substring(String.java:1877)
[INFO]      at com.google.gwt.user.rebind.ClassSourceFileComposer.print(ClassSourceFileComposer.java:154)
[INFO]    [ERROR] Out of memory; to increase the amount of memory, use the -Xmx flag at startup (java -Xmx128M ...)

I added the "-Xmx1024m" option to both $MAVEN_OPTS and $JAVA_OPTS, however my build still fails.

Please advise me.
