[M2] Exception on installing online Plugin example

rahul-12
Hi,

I am taking M2 for a spin but I am hitting the following exception when
I try to create and install the example plugin posted on Maven 2 website
(http://maven.apache.org/maven2/developers/developing-plugins-with-marmalade.html)

TIA for helping out on this one!

Oh BTW, M2 sounds promising (speed, transitive dependencies, support for
multiple scripting etc...) and looking forward to be able to get it running!

Cheers,

Rahul

You need to remove the <id/> tag. I have updated the documentation, thanks.

Re: [M2] Exception on installing online Plugin example

rahul-12
Thanks Brett,

I updated the code and the plugin is installed in the lcoal repository,
but when I try to run the plugin goal, it comes up with the error below,
which I think is occurring as the plugin is being looked up in the
remote repository and not in the local one - not sure why that should be
the case.

Cheers,
Rahul

Re: [M2] Exception on installing online Plugin example

Brett Porter
Rahul,

This was a recent change. I'll file a bug to try and improve on it,
but you can work around it with:

m2 install -DupdateReleaseInfo=true
(you only need to do this once)

Re: [M2] Exception on installing online Plugin example

rahul-12
Hi Brett,

Thanks for the prompt response - that worked! Just one another Q and a
suggestion:
Q: Is there a way to turn off all the log messages that appear on the
console when I try to run a plugin:goal ? (I can live with them if
there's no immediate solution)

Suggestion: Might be an idea to have a wiki for M2 (in case there isn't
one) where we can contribute notes (happy to do) for starters like
me'self and have a link on Maven 2 pages.

PS: Looks like Marmalade website is still in infancy, no documentation
around :-(  (guess that's something to be taken up on Marmalade list ;-) )
Anything I can help on with M2?-  would be happy to!

Cheers,
Rahul

Not at the moment. Are there some that seem out of place, or are you
just looking for a "quiet" mode?

You can use http://wiki.apache.org/Maven.

Yep. You also have the alternative of using Java or Beanshell.

That'd be great. There are plenty of small things in JIRA, plugins to
convert, and a "documentation wanted" section on the web site. If you
need any particular direction, with a particular task we can
definitely help (the [hidden email] list is a good place to
subscribe), but it is best to pick particular tasks you are interested
in.

Yes, that was what I was looking for - a 'quiet' mode. Is this available?

Thanks for that. The above page comes up in a language other than English!

I checked out a few issues, I think I will pick up MNG-42 and move
related discussion to dev list.

Not presently. It would just be setting the global logging to WARN
instead of INFO I guess.
